If you host a website with us that requires a windows / IIS environment then for the hosting account the rate is the same as our Linux hosting, a ‘one size fits all’ solution. We have set the thresholds of storage space, bandwith and processor cycles sufficiently high to cater for websites of up to about 10 million visitors per year. Once a website gets over those sorts of visitor numbers it’s probably not going to be a typical small business website and we would tailor a plan to suit that website.

Where the IIS hosting differs to Linux is with the MSSQL databases. There isn’t any limit to how many you can have but we do have a fee of $20/100mb of database space. If you are getting to the point where you are using over 2GB of MSSQL space then we would probably suggest moving your site to a VPS.

So, our standard package for $12/month ($144/yr) is fine. If you are concerned about exact figures then below are the ‘reasonable use’ thresholds that we expect websites to be within. Since we generally build all of the websites we host we know roughly how big they will be and aim to be efficient in design so that we don’t waste server resources. You can read our acceptable use policy here.

The standard allocation of server resources or $144/year AUD inc GST is:

  • 2.5GB of disk space
  • 50GB of data transfer (sum total of up and download)
  • FTP transfer is not metered
  • As many MySQL databases as needed.
  • MSSQL database facility
  • Ruby and Perl options
  • Easy to use control panel to manage email accounts
  • As many email accounts, forwarders, aliases and auto responders as you need.
  • Each email box can hold about 1GB of messages and attachments.
  • Access to email using POP3, IMAP or the ajax based webmail system.

Server environment

  • MS SQL 2008
  • .NET v2, v3, & v3.5 SP1
  • IIS 7
